Decided to stake Doomswitch 550 bucks tonight to play a bunch of $12 90 man turbos on Stars. Doom's a regular poster on RaiseTheRiver who has always impressed me with his knowledge of the game but he has always played relatively low buyin mtt's. So i decided fuck it, seeing as i don't bother to make any money myself i might aswell let some other fish make some $$$ for me. Things started off very well tonight as Doom took down one of the seven games he played in for something like $270. The deal is 50/50 on any profit plus stakeback, so happy days for me and Doom so far.

In regards to my poker exploits i have actually put in quite a few hrs for me the last 3 days and have ran pretty shit imo. I've managed to win a few hundred doll but it could so easily have been a few thousand doll if it wasn't for the odd beat here and there and being on the wrong side of a few big coinflips either just inside or outside the money spots. Profit so far for Jan is $1.3k.

Outside of poker, i feel kinda content atm. I went to the gym on Monday which felt good and played footy with the boys tonight. The plan is to just hibernate and go to the gym for the next week or so then i'm going to Brighton to meet up with Cogs to play in a GUKPT side event on the Thursday and then out on the piss into the gay capital on the Friday, i can't wait! Just ticking along really atm. I'll probably end up getting ball bagged somewhere this wkend, although its sooo fucking cold outside and everyone is usually skint and depressed this time of year. Fuck getting up for work in the mornings, i can't believe i used to work for a living, argh horrible thought. Lucky im errr living the dream as a professional poker player lol, laters fish.

As you can tell from the title of this blog things are errr going well so far this year on the volume front lol. I have played about 7-8 hrs in total during three days which is fucking shit. I have managed to make just over $1.1k during this time but that ain't the point, im a lazy fuck! I also spend waaaay too much time pissing about on the internet. Looking Back & Moving Forward

Time to reflect on 2008 and look ahead to 2009. I'll try and keep it short and sweet because these posts are usually pretty boring to read imo plus i ain't in the mood to produce one of my highly entertaining blog entries atm. EDIT: Half way through writing my post right now and its looks like it is going to be a long one, seems like i was in the mood after all...

So, was 2008 a success or a failure?? Well i survived a year playing poker online for a living so i guess that is a good thing right? However, is this success? It really depends on how you define the term success and how its measured. I remember at the time i quit my job that i was experiencing the worst run of my life online and i was a little apprehensive about playing poker for a living although on reflection i think i still set myself a target of earning about $80k despite this bad run. I didn't achieve that but believe with more effort and endeavour i could have surpassed this target but i am the worlds biggest bum, fact!

I began the year in solid fashion making about $14k on the cash tables through Jan-Feb. However, March was tough mainly because i was in Andorra for one week on holiday and then i fell ill for a further two weeks. I kinda lost my way and my focus after that and from looking at my diary things didn't really improve too much for about 4-5 months. I lost my confidence in my cash game and started playing scared ish money which is obviously never a good thing when you rely on the game to pay the bills. I also had that phase where i was playing $30 6 max SnG's and although i am very good at these simple games you are never going to make a huge amount of money from them plus they are ridiculously tedious. I also made that stupid $10k prop bet that cost me $1.5k lol. Worst bet in world, especially as i was too lazy to even attempt to complete the bloody thing!

I spent these months grinding out a bare living tbh although when i say grinding i wasn't playing much at all, not even 20 hrs a week and sometimes 0 hrs a week, fuck knows where my time went? September was a make or break month for me. Up until then i had made more money throughout the year from poker than my previous job as a Sport Science Lecturer however, it wasn't good enough and the year had thus far been unsuccessful imo . Things changed massively for me in September though when i began to play MTT's.

I guess i spent much of my time studying MTT strategy for the months leading up to September by watching/talking to donks like Kenn and observing other fish like Moorman etc. I realised i was a huge MTT fish and although my approach to these games was still good enough to make a profit i was doing alot of things wrong. I was far too weak and scared of busting, now i dont really give a shit. On the 8th Sept i won the $5r on PP for $2.4k and followed that up with a victory in a $30f for $1.25k the next day. Two days later i finished 2nd in both a $20f and a $20r for a further $3k and things suddenly became alot clearer to me. I still wasn't playing high volume poker but managed numerous final tables including another $5r first place making me a monthly profit of almost $13k, my best ever. I started to enjoy poker again and was sometimes even looking forward to logging a good session at the cyber felt, i felt good. I continued my MTT success in October making a further $6k and then chilled out in November with trips to Stockholm and the Caribbean. In December i was kinda lazy again but i have still managed a $4k+ profit from STT's. So, in terms of profit made this year i would say that 2008 has been a small success, although if it wasn't for my successes in MTT's then i probably would have deemed it to be a failure, its close. I made more money than my previous job with less effort and it has also been my most profitable year to date. However, I know i can make double the amount of the money i made during 2008 in 2009 if i can just apply myself and put more hrs in, that is one of my biggest challenges.

Has the year been a success off the tables? Again this is a close one but i would lean towards it being more of a success than a failure. One of my reasons for quitting my job was to go travelling and although i didn't exactly succeed with this goal i didn't really fail either. I managed five trips abroad this year, an extreme snowboarding tip in Andorra, two chill out trips to Spain, a visit to Stockholm to spend time with a lush Swedish bird who i met in Watford for rumps galore and an eye opening Caribbean cruise where i saw small parts of Miami, Purtico Rico, St Thomas and St Maarten aswell as meeting lots of nice and interesting characters on board the biggest ship in the world! I want to do alot more travelling this year but its difficult tbh as alot of my mates are either too skint or too settled with there other halfs etc or they just aren't that interested in leaving Watford for any length of time.

One thing that is obviously a massive problem when playing poker for a living is the lack of social interaction with the outside world lol. It does get fucking boring sometimes and you do get these spells when you finds yourself barely moving from the comfort of your own house for a few weeks. Its something i am always aware of and yet something i am always kinda constantly battling against. You don't meet as many people when you turn into a poker bum and that also obviously equals a lack of rumpage lol. It fact my sexual exploits probably mirror those of my poker successes... good little bursts of profit followed by a few barron months when i can't be bovved to even logon.

Its the same thing with exercise really, i have weeks and sometimes months when i am bang on it and then i somehow turn into a slob again. Exercise is really important to me, more for my state of mind than anything else. Its equally important to a fish like me with such a sedentary line of 'work' I signed up to another gym the other day because i have only been to my local gym about 3 times in the last two months, hopefully that will improve my motivation. Fuck my life this is turning into a loooong post, time for some goals for 2009...

More poker, more exercise, more travel and more rumps! Nah seriously, in regards to the poker i am going to set myself quite a big target although i believe it too be very achievable provided i put the hours in. Although i should be setting myself process goals which are more controllable like play X amount of hands/hours etc i am gonna set myself a big fat target of $100k profit lol. Maybe i am highly delusional but time will tell, i know i am good enough despite the ever increasing toughness of the current poker climate. If i do not put the hrs in then it simply means i am not good enough. Poker is sooo much more about discipline, patience, control and a good work ethic as opposed to the other attributes needed like hand reading skills and stuff. If i can't make $100k this year then i am probably never going to be good enough to progress in this game and make some serious coinage.

With the exercise thing i just need to get back into the same groove i was in about 3 months ago, i am definately alot fitter than i was this time last year but not doing much physical activity for the past few months does my brains in. I go mainly for the psychology benefits, my induction at my new gym starts tomorrow. In regards to travelling then fucks knows, the only thing i have planned atm is a weekend away in sunny Newcaslte for a team poker tourn late Feb lol. Thats another thing i wanna do btw, play live poker at least twice a month. Rumpwise i need to stop bashing over pimpbus, yazum, redtube, tube8 and maxporn and start negotiating/grafting more. One Hundred & Eightay

Had a really good day out yesterday with a couple of the boys Scotch and JJay first paying a visit to the Alexanrda Palace to watch the World Darts Championship and then onto Leicester Square. I've always been a big fan of the darts for at least the last 15 yrs and used to play to a decent standard myself before i went to University so it was nice to finally go and see some live arrows...

The three of us got to the venue at about midday and had a swift one in the 180 bar next door before getting into the main venue for some more beers and a couple of wagers. I had a few bets on individual scores and stuff aswell as my main bet being a Bates, Baxter, Hamilton win treble. The day started well with Bates winning the opening match 4-2 plus i also received a call from my old dear to say that i was on T.V. every time the dart players threw their arrows. More television appearances for the Amatay, im becoming abit of a celebritay these days. The next game was the biggie as JJay had backed Ovens to beat Baxter for his win treble and with Hamilton a dead cert to win the third match it was set up for some good banter between myself and that little fish. Ovens went into a 1-0 lead and things didn't look good tbh but then Baxter roared back and hit a key shot on the bully to go into a 3-1 lead before closing out the match 4-1. Hamilton won the last match as expected making me a small profit on the day, weeee. Commiserations to JJay who done his little bollocks in with some desperation bet at the end of the day lol :-) There was a great atmosphere throughout the afternoon and it was a shame that we had to leave at about 6ish.

After the arrows we headed into the Square for more beers first to the Moons then Yates and finally Planet Hollywood. Things got abit messy and somehow we ended up at the Empire Casino lol. I played abit of £1/2 but was too ball bagged and too skint to play for long and eventually stood up after about 20 mins, breaking even. Unfortunately we missed the last train and had to get a taxi but i wasn't too bovved tbh as it was a really good day and something abit different.

I had a decentish xmas aswell, nothing special but went out for beers galore with Scotch, Bill and Darren on xmas eve to Chicargo's, Baraka and then Area. I ended up getting waaaay more pissed than i had planned and really struggled with my chrimbo din dins the next day. Had a right result with presents this year receiving one of those nutter 3G iphones which are lush. Unbelievable technology and the only thing it doesn't do is suck your cock tbh. On the poker front i've played about 60 of those 26 buck 45 manners on ftp and went on a sick bad run dropping $800 before clawing it back to finish evens which is abit shit. I've got some big poker plans for 2009 which i'll prob post about in my next entry, i bet you can't wait, laters.

Playing Shit, Running Shit, Feeling Shit

I know its xmas and all that bollocks but im not feeling all that great atm, just abit blahhh tbh. Bit bored of poker and just life in general recently, my holidays from last month are a distant memory, i need to plan some more quickly but i dunno what and who with? Another thing that has made me feel abit shizz was my sluggish workout in the gym today. I was getting quite fit about 2 months ago and it felt like i was in decent shape. However, i have done little exercise since then except for the odd game of footie and a couple of rumps :-) I felt really weak in the gym and couldn't do the equivalent weights, and sets etc as i was pumping before which was abit demotivating.

In regards to poker like i said it is fucking borrrrrring. When you play poker fulltime you go though a least 6-7 spells a year when you hate the game and im kind of in one of those spells atm. It dont help that when i can be bovved to fire up some games that im running abit crap aswell. Its nothing major but i haven't manged to get going the last 10 days or so when i have played. In all honestly on reflection i aint playing too great either. One thing i seem to be doing alot of recently is calling off way to light and/or shoving when i can infact raise pre and fold to a reraise with marginally holdings that when called are usually dominated.

Another reason for this slightly depressing post is the fact that Scotch is definitely banging that bird atm, the one i wrote about the other night which incidently he didn't rump on that occasion(gay) and i am sat here on my jack jones with just my laptop for company. Sigh, fuck my fucking life lol. Goodnight and happy christmas fish :-)

The Negotiator (jinx) and the Grafter.

Its been a bit of a non-event at the tables this past week to tell the truth, hence the lack of updates (sorry fans). I made around $700 on Mon and Tues and since then i have pretty much broken even. I partly think my housemate Scotch is to blame tbh as everytime he sits down to watch me play i bust out all over the shop. Today was a prime example when i was pissing about in five $26 45 man donkfests and a raketherake freeroll ($5k ftw) on ftp. I kid you not i had four extremely healthy stacks in the $26's and i was approaching the money in the mtt until Scotch planted his ginger buttocks next to mine to observe the action and then it all went tits up. I busted three of the games in 10th on the final table bubble and a fourth in 7th on the money bubble mainly to absolute shockers aswell as the odd ice cold deck! I also fucking busted just outside the dosh in the raketherake thing aswell, sigh. After that shizz Scotch left the room and i managed to blast my way to a 2nd place finish in my last remaining game. The coaching deal is off im afraid Scotch, you are gonna have to train yourself mate, you are a fucking jinx! Apart from that the only other eventful ish thing to happen this week was a visit from my mate Cogs aka The Grafter...

I know Cogs from the RaiseTheRiver forum and met the fish once before when i went to Brighton (cue comments from Mr Anonymous) to play poker in the local Grosvenor. Cogs is a good crack and abit of a funny bastard. He has got this saying that i have never heard of before called Grafting which made me laugh. It basically refers to when you are chatting up birds whether it be in person or via text msg on your mob or even online, kinda like the term negotiating (fucking funny post imo) that Scotch uses alot lol. In the two days that Coggy spent in Watford most of his time was spent grafting either via text or on Facebook chat. The fish came down on the Wednesday night and we basically chilled in the evening chatting shit, drinking and playing abit of poker online. I joined the mincer in some little gay $8 tourn and i think he also played in some 10 buck PLO hi/lo game. I busted 20/180 in the $8 but that fish ran golden finishing 3rd after muffing up a pair of jacks in shocking style to probably go on and win it and he also came 12th in the PLO game. I think the beers had kicked it by then so i'll give the fish the benefit of doubt but that JJ hand was terrible mate lol. Stick to $2 SnGays imo ;-)

On the Thursday we grabbed some nutter munch in a nearby cafe and then played some more pokes in the afternoon. That donk showed me how to run golden again after he final tabled some small mtt on ipoker and i shizzed off a few hundred on both ipoker and ftp, sigh. After that we went into town for beers galore first to Revolution, Chicargo's and then Kandy. Nothing of any real significance happened but it was a decent giggle and we ended up putting away quite a few alcoholic beverages tbf. We were also joined later on by my mate Rob who is a crazy bastard but we couldn't get into Oceana's towards the end of the night which was abit shit. I think all Coggy's grafting paid off though as he later told me he ended up rumping some bird back home, mbn. It's definitely gonna be one of my new year resolutions i think, to do more grafting lol. I have good little spells but then get lazy and can't be bothered unless i really like them. Its a bit like poker i guess, i put in a few hrs, have decent success and then almost stop playing. That's another one of my new years resolutions btw, to pump of the volume on the cyber felt and make some serious coinage aswell as play more live poker but i'll write about that another day as im fooked and need some shut eye, laters.

Amatay's New Empire

I have put in a few hrs at the tarbles this weekend, nothing too strenuous but enough to make almost $1.3k which is quite nice. I've also been busy ish fucking about with this ghey blog and also pissing about on the RaiseTheRiver forum...

I am trying to make a few extra bucks from advertising on this site as for some bizarre reason it is quite popular so i reckon it should be making me some pennies. So, expect to see a few flashing banners and stuff about the place, amatay's blog is branching ooot! Also i have just been promoted from Moderatay to administratay over on RTR lol. I don't think it really means an awful lot tbh except i now kinda own a decent percentage of the site. Im gonna try and use my blogging powers to get some people to sign up if i can. Its a good little site anyways, get yourselves signed up fish. Its essentially a site for bloggers although anyone can sign up for free, there is some decent banter on there and its a good crack. There will be weekly leagues and other shit going on on a regluar basis so you'll even get the chance to play against your blogging hero (me). Im probably gonna play a few more hrs on Sunday unless i get ball bagged watching the Chelsea WestHam match. [ ] i expect a good result for the hammers.

Its soooo easy to make money playing poker online atm, how do people lose thousands at this game??? I might try and teach my housemate Scotch how to make a few extra dimes a month soon, really put some hrs in with him if he can be bovved because he is fucking skint as per usual. I've tried teaching him before but he is fucking unless. Speaking of that ginger fish i am sure he is rumping some bird next door right now. He is a strange one that boy. Last night he came home with a work colleague of his and they slept in the same bed and he got no action. He said he had slept with her a few times but no rumps as they are just mates??!!? WTF? Tonight the little fish has got another work colleague of his in the sack but again i asked him if he was on for rumps and he was like nah, its not like that. WFT is the deal with that, having birds as mates? I could never sleep in the same bed as a bird without trying some of my smooth moves on her, not to mention a constant boner. Im sure he is lying to me. I'm gonna question that little mincer tomorrow. Night.

Thanks Fish

Can't believe you all fell for that one again, of course i'm not gonna stop writing this blog you stupid fish. I simply wanted to boost my already over inflated ego, thankyou. In all seriousness though it did briefly cross my mind to end this blog so cheers to the majority for their kind words. Despite the minority thinking i do come across as a right plum i kinda like writing this shit anyways and it doesn't bother me that much tbh i was just in a weird mood at the time of writing.
This week has been abit strange for me so far and amazingly i have woken up before 8am on the last two days! I'm not sure i like it though as i have been too fucked to play poker late at night when both the traffic and games are good. I think in an ideal world i need to wake up about 11am-1pm everyday and make sure im asleep by 4am ish. However, in reality i know what i am like and expect my sleeping pattern to remain sporadic in the near future at least. As a result i have only played a tiny bit of poker this week and despite being stuck about $500 on Monday i managed to claw it back to finish with a mincey $100 profit. I've decided 2009 is gonna be my year, plenty of volume and plenty of $$$, im gonna do it. I reckon i can 'easily' earn $100k+ in a year if bother to put the hrs in, watch this space! I Might Stop Writing This Blog

Do u read this rubbish alot? If so why? Do i come across as a complete dick head in my blog? (can't wait for the annon comments btw). I sometimes get paranoid that i sound like a complete idiot. Maybe i go abit OTT sometimes? I just write it and i am honest about how i feel. Its not all poker orientated as some of you readers know. I guess it is kinda popular thou, why do u think that is? It can't just be the links to free porn :-) It started off as a joke between me and my mates and now i get about 300 odd people read it each day lol. I even had people come up to me in the Caribbean asking if i was Amatay, fame at last!

My last few posts since the CPC post have been rubbish imo although i guess many of you would say all my posts are rubbish. Argh, i'm in a weird mood, can you tell lol. Just abit para all of a sudden, i've felt like this before and almost stopped writing this blog.

I suppose i'm looking for some sort of reassurance that i don't sound like a prick. Sorry i dont mean to draw attention to myself but sometimes i kinda feel like im coming across as a complete muppet. I prob sound like a muppet now? Seriously thou, please be honest, thx.

I Can't Win A Race!

Not alot happened this wkend which was abit shit really. Didn't get lashed at all, sigh. Had a few of the lads round on Sat night for a home game, pro evo and the boxing which was a gd crack but thats it. Ended up staying awake all night and and slept all day on Sunday lol. Played about 15 odd more of those ftp games on Fri to show my housemate Scotch how shit the standard was and ended up busting every game bar one losing just under $300. You are a fucking jinx Scotch! Played about another 15 tonight and dropped another $150, sigh. Im losing about 80%+ flips atm esp the key ones. Its to be expected thou i guess as i was running well above expectation so i wont moan, ffs kljgfyurjthfghjk. Made about $1850 in the first week of Dec which isn't great but given the amount of volume i have put in i should be content. In fact if i made that amount every week from playing the volume i have then i would take it every time as it equates to a very comfortable living for me anyways :-)

Soul read my mate Adam today in a little shitty $30 SnGay at the end of the night when i raised in mid pos with K5 and he shoved on me in the SB. The bb was basically allin and i knew that he knew that i knew this so i knew that he knew i was raising light so i called the bitch and he had K2 and we ended up splitting the pot. Levels upon levels babay! Dont ever test me Ads ;-)

Writays Block

Been racking my brains this morn trying to come up with some good material for a new blog post but i ain't got nothing too exciting to report tbh. After chatting to that fish Sledge on msn i came up with the bright idea of writng a post about me having writers block, i know i am a fucking geeeenius. So, i am just gonna waffle on, try and crack a few funnies, post a few pics of naked birds and maybe add the odd porn link or summat, i mean it works for that donk Sniper on his abs tezza blog. Hopefully the following bullshit will please my legion of fans...

I've been up all night again tonight and the last 3-4 days have been abit of a blur really, the hrs have just seemed to vamooooshed! I think i have only left the flat once this week for footy when we basically lost the league title. It now looks like we are gonna have to settle for a runners up spot in the little gay 5 a side league i play in on a Tuesday night, sigh.

Pokerwise all i have played is about 100 of those $26 45 man soft as shit donkaments on ftp. The standard really baffles me, people play sooo sooooooo bad its unreal. I have run pretty golden making $2.3k profit from those 100 odd games with $1.3k of that coming tonight but seriously the thought process of alot of these donks is just so lol, the things i see are pure comedy. Its simple push fold piece of piss poker most of the time yet i still see people raise fold half their stack all limp call and then fold for half their stacks lol. The worst ones are when you see a few limpers and then someone blasts all in only for a late position limper to suddenly decide his A5 or KJ or some shizz like that is now good enough to call off his stack loooool, it amazes me!
