Haven't played much the last three weeks. I'm going through one of those periods where I can't buy a hand: flop a set, lose to a flush when a 4th suit hits the river; flop a straight, lose when a 3rd suit hits the river, etc., etc. Since I tend to get frustrated when I have a string of sessions that go this way I'm better off leaving the tables alone for awhile.
I know it's variance and that taking a break won't change my cards but it does help with my state of mind; no point playing when I start thinking I can't win, which is what happens after a string of these.![]()

Finished the Paradise chase but it would have been better if I never started it. I was on a bit of a bad roll, only won 8% of my hands vs fair share of 10% however I also made a number of mistakes in the hands I did play. My turn play really needs some work.
The bonus cleared quickly, 71% and it's really nice to get the money as it's earned rather than waiting for the lump sum but the traffic on Paradise quite slow. I don't think the play was significantly tougher than other sites, it seemed looser than the Will Hill and InterPoker but not as loose as Pokerroom. The players are slightly more aggressive and ran into a number of tricky players; trickery on this site tends to people raising a flop bettor and then leading out on the turn often to check fold on the river. On Pokerroom people seemed to prefer to call the flop and bluff check-raise the turn. After playing 4k hands on Pokerroom I had some difficulty respecting the turn raises and check-raises on Paradise, which, for the most part, were legit. Funny how different sites play, each seems to have its own set of favourite FPS plays.
Will be back at Stars for the next few days. Trying to decide wether to also play Full-Tilt or PKR, both have good first deposit bonus' running.![]()

While I only played 3 sessions (2 of which I lost), on reviewing my play have to admit I am not ready for this level; my play stank. Bottom line is I need to improve and I'd be better off figuring out how to improve at $1/$2 than at $2/$4. Having the bankroll for $2/$4 is not a valid excuse to move up. So, it's back to the books until my $1/$2 results take a gradual incline instead of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.![]()

This hasn't been going well at all, I've cleared $70 in bonus (nice that they give it to you as it's earned) but I've lost $68.25 in the process. For some reason I always run into trouble on Paradise.
Today I had pocket KK's run into quad 88's, I was on the button, there were 2 limpers and MP raised (he always raised if he played), I 3-bet. Flop was 8

, checked to me, I bet, limpers folded, MP called. Turn was a rag but another
. I bet out not wanting to give a free card to an Ace, MP check-raised, I called. The river was 8
. MP bet. I called. MP turned over 88.
On another hand I had A

, flop came AK6. I bet and was raised by a decent player, called figuring to fold on the turn if I didn't improve, good chance he had a better kicker. The turn was another 6. I checked, he bet and I called. Villian would have raised AK pre-flop so figured the paired board solved my kicker problem and I'd at least get a split. River was a rag, I check/called. Villian turned over quad 66's. C'est la vie.
The traffic on the site is very slow, only around 8k players and at most 4 FR $1/$2 tables with waiting lists 10-15 deep. Have $30 more to clear; hope I can finish up a little better but at this point I'll be happy with break even. ![]()

Just converted to Blogger Beta, surprisingly easy. Glad they have added Labels, it will make it easier to group posts. Now if I could just figure out how to get rid of the borders around my card symbol images, the software appears to be ignoring the 'border' setting in the html tag. It looks fine in preview but the final post is still showing them :(![]()
